DR ANA MACEDO
Research Associate
RESEARCH
Research interests
- Communication in cancer screening and prevention
- Developmental perspectives in health behaviour
- Decision-making theories
I have a research background in Developmental Psychology, focused on cognitive development in infancy and childhood. My previous research related
to early infant-mother interactions, attachment security and children's understanding of mind. During my PhD, I continued to investigate how social
relationships shape cognitive development. I explored the forms of argument and negotiation that children and adolescents use in interaction with
others. Other research interests concern reasoning skills underlying decision-making, health promotion and risk prevention.
Current research
I am currently working on a project funded by Cancer Research UK focused on public perceptions of cancer screening. I am particularly interested
in issues related to informed choice and informed decision-making in screening participation.
