The Naqada Period is the main predynastic period of Egypt. It covers roughly the time between 4000 - 3000 BC. During this thousand years Egypt developed from a series of small-scale farming communities of different material culture into one of the earliest urban civilisations and the first 'nation-state').
The Naqada Period is divided into three main sub-periods.
very typical is the pottery

rich tombs show the appearance of social differences

some objects indicate foreign trade

arts and crafts reached already a high level
