Oxyrhynchus: Arabic manuscripts
Oxyrhynchus was occupied into the Islamic period; it has the Arabic name Bahnasa, and is still inhabited today. Many manuscripts written with Arabic texts have been found. In the Petrie Museum there are about a hundred fragmentary manuscripts, on both papyrus- and cloth-paper, from the 1922 excavations; funding from the Friends of 白小姐论坛 in 2003 has provided for their conservation, to enable them to be studied and translated.
