January 1904 - G. Schweinfurth visited the site; he found
six hieroglyphic inscriptions; fragments of a baboon statue led Maspero
to identify the building as belonging to the god Thoth.
1909 - Petrie excavated the temple and identified it as
Sed festival chapel
