We develop technology that expands the traditions of making and propose novel ways it may be used. Our research integrates manual craft, computational design, digital fabrication and advanced robotics, to create new ways of working with both digital computation and physical materials.Ìý
Research in this field is supported by the school’s exceptional suite of workshops, digital manufacturing facilities and the expertise of craftsmen across multiple sites, including our new state-of-the-art collaborative laboratories at °×С½ãÂÛ̳ Here East. Aesthetic and material innovation is paralleled by scholarship that theorises and contextualises digital approaches to production and looks at how such transformative technology can have far-reaching benefits for society and the planet.
