- Eligibility criteria for 2025
Mandatory criteria for 2025-26.听Candidates must:
- UK domicilied with home fee status or be a forced migrant (as defined by 白小姐论坛1) in the UK.听
- have accepted听an offer of admission to an undergraduate course听for to start in 2025-26
- must not have completed an undergraduate degree at 白小姐论坛 or anywhere else previously
In addition to these mandatory criteria, candidates must meet听at least one听of the additional criteria:
- be in financial need as assessed by 白小姐论坛2
- be from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background3
- be from a Gypsy, Roma or Traveller community4
- have a disability听4
- be a care leaver4
- Received (or were eligible for) free school meals
- Attend (or have attended) a low performing school for either GCSE or A levels5
- Live in a disadvantaged area6
- be first generation in family to attend university at undergraduate level

- How to apply
On accepting an offer of a place on a Bartlett undergraduate course for the 2025听intake (this should be no later than听6听June 2025), you will be able to apply for The Bartlett Promise scheme.听The Bartlett Promise Scholarship application form will open on 6听June 2025听and close on 4听July 2025听at 23:45 BST.
As part of the application process selected candidates who have met their 鈥楢鈥� level grade requirement will be asked to engage in a one-to-one dialogue with the Windsor Fellowship8听to discuss anything else which you feel might support your application. Dialogues will be conducted electronically via an appropriate method agreed between the Windsor Fellowship and applicant e.g. telephone, Zoom听etc. They will be scheduled by the Windsor Fellowship after the 'A' Level results are released by UCAS.
听is supporting The Bartlett in conducting the one-to-one dialogues that form part of the application process. The Bartlett will share the data of applicants with the Windsor Fellowship for the purposes of conducting these dialogues. By submitting your application, you agree to The Bartlett sharing your information with the Windsor Fellowship.

The selection panel will assess your application based on the information provided on your online scholarship application form and the information you provide in your one-to-one dialogue with the Windsor Fellowship. Assessment of applications will be made in relation to the eligibility criteria.听

Eligibility
- What are the eligibility criteria?
The Bartlett Promise aims to enable students from backgrounds which are underrepresented in The Bartlett, to pursue postgraduate research studies at The Bartlett, 白小姐论坛鈥檚 Faculty of the Built Environment.
Candidates must:

- Will I be assessed on my academic merit for The Bartlett Promise scholarship?
You must meet The Bartlett鈥檚 academic requirements. This will be assessed by the school you have applied to and you must have received and accepted an offer from one of The Bartlett schools to study an undergraduate course听in 2025-26听to be able to apply for a Bartlett Promise scholarship. The Bartlett Promise team will not assess your academic ability further.
- How will my UK domiciled, and home fee status be assessed?
Your UK domiciled and home fee status will be assessed by the Admissions teams and your offer letter will state what your fee status is.
Applying to The Bartlett Promise Scholarship
- Do I need to have accepted an offer to study from The Bartlett first?
Candidates applying for a Bartlett Promise Undergraduate scholarship must have received an offer from The Bartlett School of Architecture, The Bartlett School of Planning, The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction or The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources to study an undergraduate course starting in September 2025. You must have accepted your offer in order to apply to The Bartlett Promise.

The Bartlett School of Architecture offers 4 undergraduate courses:
- BSc Architecture (ARB/RIBA Part 1)
- MSci Architecture (ARB Part 1 and 2)
- BSc Architecture and Interdisciplinary Studies
- MEng Engineering and Architectural Design
The Bartlett School of Planning offers 3 undergraduate courses:

The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources offers 1 undergraduate course:
- Do I need to have an unconditional offer to study an undergraduate course听at The Bartlett?
No. Your offer can be unconditional or conditional. If you are shortlisted and you have an unconditional offer you will go forward to the dialogue stage of the selection process. If you are shortlisted but your offer is conditional on your 鈥楢鈥� level results, we will check your results when they are published and if you have met your requirements, you can go forward to the dialogue stage of the selection process.
If you are awarded a scholarship, you must submit an unconditional offer letter to The Bartlett Promise team by email at by 18听September 2025. There is no guarantee that we can accommodate awarded candidates who do not meet the requirement of having an unconditional offer by 18 September 2025.
- What is the application process?
Once you have accepted an offer from a Bartlett school for an undergraduate course to start in September 2025, you can submit your application for The Bartlett Promise. The application form will be available on our website from 6听June 2025. Candidates must complete an application by 4听July 2025. We will consider your educational, personal and financial circumstances. You will need to demonstrate these in your application form.
As part of the application process, shortlisted candidates will be asked to engage in a one-to-one dialogue with the to discuss anything else which you feel might support your application. This will not include describing or detailing your academic abilities and/or research plans. Dialogues will be conducted electronically via an appropriate method agreed between the Windsor Fellowship and the applicant e.g. telephone, Zoom etc. They will be scheduled by the Windsor Fellowship after the application deadline.
The selection panel will assess your application based on information provided on your scholarship application form and the information you provide in your one-to-one dialogue with the Windsor Fellowship. The assessment of applications will be made in relation to the eligibility criteria.
- When does The Bartlett Promise application form open?
The application form will be available from 6听June 2025. We will consider your educational, personal and financial circumstances. You will need to demonstrate these in your application form.
- Is there a deadline for applying?
Yes, the deadline is 23.45 (BST) on 4听July 2025.
- How soon after applying will I find out the outcome?
The successful applicants will be notified by email by 15 September 2025. Those with conditional offers will need to provide an unconditional offer letter by 18 September 2025听in order to confirm their award allocation.
Post-acceptance
- Besides academic supervision, what other support is available while studying?
As part of The Bartlett Promise, we will provide tailored support services to award holders throughout the life of their course听and career support beyond. We will achieve this by bringing in expertise from across 白小姐论坛 to create appropriate packages of support for individual scholars. In addition to this, you will be joining The Bartlett Promise Community of current and previous scholars, benefactors, supporters and friends. This community will support you during your studies and forms a network to guide and sustain you throughout your career.

- Can I apply for The Bartlett Promise if I want to study part-time?
No. There is currently no part-time option for undergraduate courses.
- Can I work while studying?
The stipend is designed to enable scholars to focus on their studies full time. Limited, occasional amounts of part time work may be possible. You should discuss this with personal tutor.
- Can international students apply?
No. The Bartlett Promise scholarship is for UK domiciled students on home fees only.
- Can I defer my studies and keep my scholarship offer?
No. The scholarship offer cannot be deferred. You must take up your place in September 2025. If you are not able to take up a scholarship in 2024, you can apply again in the following year.
- Can I interrupt my studies?
Please consult the Changes to your study pages to understand the process for interrupting your studies. You must then consult your supervisor and The Bartlett Promise team (Bartlett.promise@ucl.ac.uk) before making any decisions. Each case will be assessed on its own merits.
- What happens if I have to withdraw from my studies?

Scholarship value
- Is there a fixed allowance amount, how much is it?
The maintenance stipend for 2025/26听is 拢15,864 per year.
- How many years funding will I get?
You will be funded for the full length of your course. This may be three or four years depending on your course.
- Will the fees and allowance be paid directly to me?
The fees will be paid directly by The Bartlett Promise to 白小姐论坛 fees. The maintenance stipend will be paid to you in three termly instalments (October, January and April).
- If I have to relocate to London to study is there any financial support available?
There is no additional funding to cover relocation.
- Can I accept The Bartlett Promise scholarship in addition to other internal or external awards?
The award may be held in conjunction with other scholarships or bursaries, as long as the total value of all your scholarships and bursaries (including The Bartlett Promise) does not exceed the stipend rate set by UKRI which is currently 拢19,668. This figure may change in the future in line with any changes to course fees and average living costs in London.
