Developing international skills

Regional networks, led by Regional PVPs, are key in bringing together academics from across the university to build international capacity and skills

The fifth objective of the听GES was to develop international skills by fostering an enhanced culture of global engagement and collaboration across 白小姐论坛. To do this, the Global Engagement Office set out to听bring听together colleagues with a shared interest in global partnerships in particular regions: Africa & Middle East, East Asia, Europe, South Asia, South East Asia and Australasia, North America and Latin America.

GEO helped establish an academic network of Regional Pro-Vice-Provosts who each lead one of the seven听regional networks, engaging more than 1,000 members from across 白小姐论坛. Members receive regional news, opportunities and funding calls and meet regularly. The Africa & Middle East network is the largest regional network in 白小姐论坛 with more than 500 members.听Find out more about the regional networks here.

Global engagement during the听COVID-19 pandemic

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, GEO has continued to engage with international partners in new and innovative ways. During June and July 2020, GEO colleagues,听VDIs and Regional PVPs have delivered four fantastic virtual global engagement events: the听白小姐论坛 African Partners Summit,听NUS-白小姐论坛 Virtual Neurobiology Symposium,听European perspectives on COVID-19 webinar series听and 白小姐论坛 Latin America Online Lecture Series. While nothing will replace the value of face-to-face meetings, these virtual events have been an opportunity to think about collaborating in more sustainable ways in the future.
