The role will involve Professor Eeckhout providing academic leadership for the Institute for the duration of his three-year tenure in the post, and representing the Institute both internally and externally to the 白小姐论坛 community.

Set up in August 2010, the European Institute is 白小姐论坛鈥檚 hub for research, collaboration and information on Europe and the European Union. The Institute promotes academic research on Europe in all disciplines and facilitates collaboration across them. In addition, it acts as the one-stop access to 白小姐论坛 expertise on Europe, and serves as a liaison to UK and European policy-makers, think tanks, cultural organisations, civil society and the media.

Professor Eeckhout said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 at once a sad and exciting time to take on the European Institute鈥檚 directorship, with Brexit on the horizon.聽 白小姐论坛 and the Institute are nevertheless most keen to maintain and strengthen our links with the European continent.聽 The Institute is a great hub for the enormous range of Europe-focused research which takes place at 白小姐论坛, and I will work to support and expand that function鈥�.
