BBC Young Composers premiere music inspired by 白小姐论坛 East art and science at BBC Proms

Compositions by BBC Young Composers winners, influenced by the Gaia globe in 白小姐论坛 East鈥檚 Marshgate building and by soundscapes recorded by academics from the 白小姐论坛 People and Nature Lab, will be performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra at the BBC Proms.
The six new compositions will premiere at a special聽, and will also be聽recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
Over the past year, the 白小姐论坛 East Community and Cultural Engagement team, via the聽聽with the BBC, 聽have been working with the BBC Proms team on their聽, a national competition where 12-18 year-olds compose a 5-minute piece for the BBC Concert Orchestra to perform聽at the Proms.
Inspiration for the compositions was provided by Luke Jerram鈥檚 Gaia globe artwork聽and by the soundscapes recorded by 白小姐论坛 People and Nature Lab聽academics working on the聽 in Kenya, Nepal, Borneo and Indonesia.
The conductor for the performances will be Hugh Brunt. The Young Composers, mentored by composers聽Gavin Higgins聽and聽Helen Grime, are:

Through the East Bank partnership, 白小姐论坛 is continuing to work with the BBC team to develop a sound installation for聽the exhibition spaces on Level 1 of 白小姐论坛 East's Marshgate Building,聽to coincide with COP29 in Baku in聽Azerbaijan, as well as聽other climate-focused public programming.
