Description
In this module you will study two important parts of classical physics - mechanics and electromagnetism.ÌýÌýÌý
In classical mechanics you start at Newton’s laws, energy, work, power and conservative forces.Ìý This leads to circular motion, polar coordinates, orbits and Kepler's laws.Ìý Inertial and non-inertial reference frames follow, finishing with rotating reference frames and Coriolis forces.
In electromagnetism you start with electrostatics, leading to Gauss’s law and investigating simple systems, such as capacitors and wires.Ìý This leads to a treatment of moving charges and Ampere’s law before reaching electromagnetic induction with Faraday’s law and finally unifying these areas with a differential formulation of Maxwell’s equations. Electromagnetic waves and Poynting vectors finish off this part of the course.
