In this module we will explore the pathophysiology of common diseases. How the body works, how it goes wrong, the mechanisms of disease, clinical investigation and treatment. We use a systems-based approach where the physiological functioning of a single system together with case histories illustrate both normal physiology and the manifestations of disease, and students achieve an in-depth understanding of the interrelationship of body systems in health and disease. Overall, this module aims to provide students with an increased knowledge and understanding of human physiology and systemic disease.
