Description
Design and Creative Practice 1 is a unique module on the Architectural & Interdisciplinary Studies programme that enables each student to understand design disciplines, with a view to developing their own individual approach to creative practice.Ìý
This module encourages students to discover the work of a wide range of creative practitioners, including – but not limited to – architects, inventors, filmmakers, composers, acousticians, designers and writers. This research will inform an understanding of the relevance of interdisciplinarity to architecture and the built environment.Ìý
Students will use this research to develop and improve their creative skills in various creative media (such as drafting, photography, making and writing). Over the course of the module, students will be asked to consider individual and group working practices, ultimately developing an individual design proposition and portfolio in response to a shared project brief.
As part of the module, you will be encouraged to investigate material cultures and methods in the B-made workshop. Accordingly, you will need to complete a B-made Workshop Induction. You may also be asked to visit potential project sites and attend other events, including art and architecture exhibitions, evening lectures and film screenings.
