Description
BENV0068 Heritage Management and Sustainable Development will enable you to develop an understanding of heritage management, sustainable development, personal leadership and project management and how to successfully convert strategy into operational reality.
The Module does so by providing you with a critical understanding of emergent issues related to heritage in the context of urban and rural landscapes around the world with particular emphasis on sustainable urban transformations, regeneration and the adaptive reuse and conservation of historic buildings in historic cities.
The Module will explore the impact of local and global economies, the role of organisations and local communities and social and environmental challenges on heritage (especially in cities) to the role of heritage in driving social and economic sustainability.
You will be equipped with skills to develop ‘critical’ urban and rural heritage conservation and management strategies that intend not only to protect heritage in a dynamic, complex environment but also to make heritage contribute to sustainable development through organisational and community participation.
