Module Content and Indicative Topics Ìý
The module aims to: build on and improve students’ strategies and methods for language learning; build on and improve students’ language skills in speaking, understanding, writing and reading including elements of pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar; enable the students to express opinions and discuss various topics with some fluency in both speech and writing, and to understand and read authentic Danish texts at increasing levels of difficulty. Ìý
 Teaching Delivery Ìý
2x2-hour seminar per week, consisting of tutor-led discussions, communicative exercises, various tasks including text-reading and discussion, and student presentations. The various activities will continually be evaluated and adapted to best suit students’ needs. Ìý
By the end of the module, you should be able to:  Ìý

Understand and communicate in Danish at B1–B2 level (reading, writing, speaking and listening)  Ìý

Understand processes involved in language acquisition Ìý

Use strategies for consolidating vocabulary and linguistic structures Ìý

Understand and employ grammatical and syntactical rules in Danish at an appropriate level Ìý

Use digital tools (e.g. text corpora) in the language learning process Ìý

In preparation for the module, we advise that student acquire the following core texts.  Ìý

Grammar: It is recommended that students have their own copy of R Allan, P Holmes & T Lundskær-Nielsen, Danish. An Essential Grammar (Routledge 2011). Ìý

Dictionaries: Dansk-engelsk ordbog & Engelsk-dansk ordbog (Gyldendal) or similar. Make sure that the dictionary gives you the gender of nouns.
