Description
This is a largely traditional physics course taught principally through lectures. The primary topics covered are waves, thermodynamics, solid state and quantum physics. There will be additional reading material for students, some to read before lectures and some to read afterwards. The module aims to equip biomedical engineers with the physics background necessary for them to prosper in the field. The module will familiarize biomedical engineers with concepts in contemporary physics so that they can draw on those general scientific principles with confidence. On completion of this module you will: Be able to explain basic concepts in physics to another undergraduate, to be able to perform basic calculations in physics, understand the range of physical principles and appreciate how they underpin biomedical engineering and apply your knowledge of physics to biomedical engineering applications.
