Description
Ninety percent of the human body is made up of our resident microbiota. This complex community plays a role in a bewildering array of human processes and we are only starting to understand these. This optional module aims to introduce the students to this microbiota and using a range of examples where disease arises due to changes in the microbiota (dysbiosis). The aim is to familiarise the students with the current concepts and processes associated with these and to enable them to independently assess other appropriate diseases and theorise the potential causes of these and how they might be treated.
