Tombs with a palace facade in Early Dynastic Egypt
Tombs with a palace facade, all dating to Early Dynastic times, have been found at several sites in Egypt. |
The earliest tomb was excavated at Naqada (see finds of this tomb in the Petrie Museum) (time of king Aha). In Helwan and Naga ed-Deir several smaller tombs of the type have been found.
The palace facade is part of the kings name in the century preceding king Aha: this suggests that the architecture might have existed already earlier in Egypt.
