Former Guantanamo detainee speaks to °×С½ãÂÛ̳ Human Rights Programme

  • Moazzam Begg, one of the British Muslims held at Guantanamo Bay, will be addressing °×С½ãÂÛ̳ students on Friday 11 January.

    Mr Begg was arrested in Afghanistan in February 2002 and held without charge by the US Government at Bagram Airbase and Guantanamo Bay. He was released in January 2005.

    His appearance is the first major event to be hosted by the °×С½ãÂÛ̳ Human Rights Programme, which has been formed by a group of °×С½ãÂÛ̳ Laws students.

    The °×С½ãÂÛ̳ Human Rights Programme and the °×С½ãÂÛ̳U Amnesty International Society will both be in the South Cloisters from 11am on Friday to talk to interested students about human rights issues and their groups' activities.

    Mr Begg will be speaking in the Gustave Tuck Lecture Theatre from 4pm on Friday 11 January.
