Getting ready for the end of term and the New Year at °×С½ãÂÛ̳

As we move into the second half of Term 1, many of you will be making plans for the winter break and the New Year. Find out what you need to do if you’re staying on campus, thinking about travelling and what you can expect on campus in the new term.

This year °×С½ãÂÛ̳’sÌýwinter breakÌýruns from 18 December 2021 – 9 January 2022, with different dates for the °×С½ãÂÛ̳ Medical School and Institute of Education.ÌýÌý

Staying on campusÌý

Many of °×С½ãÂÛ̳’s support services and facilities will remain open as usual over the winter break. Further information about this will be published shortly. NHS and other emergency healthcare services will remain open throughout.ÌýÌý

Making travel plansÌý

If you are travelling over the break, pleaseÌýfollow the latest guidance fromÌý, your destination and any countries you will be travelling through, including any legal requirements for getting tested for COVID-19.Ìý

Joining us on campus in 2022Ìý

WeÌýareÌýlookingÌýforward to seeingÌýyouÌýon campus at the start of Term 2. Campus is now fully open during term time, includingÌýour libraries, °×С½ãÂÛ̳ Careers, the StudentÌýCentre and Students’ Union °×С½ãÂÛ̳ spaces.ÌýÌý

We expect everyone to join usÌýin LondonÌýfor the start of the new term.ÌýIn Term 1, °×С½ãÂÛ̳ supportedÌýsome overseas students to study remotely if pandemic-related circumstances meantÌýtheyÌýcould not join us in person,ÌýandÌýit was possible to provide parts ofÌýtheirÌýprogramme online. AsÌýwe saidÌýat the time, this was a temporaryÌýmeasureÌýandÌýthe majority ofÌýstudents will be expected to join theirÌýprogrammesÌýin-person for Term 2.ÌýÌýÌý

If you have been studying remotely in Term 1, your department will contact you within the next weekÌýto adviseÌýwhetherÌýyouÌýcanÌýcontinueÌýstudyingÌýremotelyÌýin Terms 2 and 3, and what this means for your course options.ÌýÌý

Staying safe on campusÌý

°×С½ãÂÛ̳ is working hard to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection on campus, and we need everyone to play their part to help keep our community as safe as possible.

The most important thing you can do to keep yourself and others around you is toÌýget vaccinated if you can. °×С½ãÂÛ̳ can support you to get vaccinated, and there is an NHS vaccinationÌýcentreÌýon campus.ÌýÌý

Face coverings are mandatory for all students and staff in all indoor spaces on campus, including in lectures, seminar rooms, study spaces,ÌýofficesÌýand labs, unless you are exempt. Remember to wash orÌýsanitiseÌýyour hands frequently throughout the day, and please be considerate of those around you, especially if they’re wearing a ‘Please Give Me Space’ lanyard or badge. We are also cleaning our buildings frequently and asking everyone to get tested twice a week, even if you do not have COVID-19 symptoms.ÌýÌý

Stay at home if you feel at all unwell, and if you have coronavirus symptoms, self-isolate and order a PCR test. If you do test positive for COVID-19, please report it on °×С½ãÂÛ̳’sÌýConnect to ProtectÌýreporting tool, which tracks and responds to cases in our community.Ìý
