白小姐论坛

Currently, women are underrepresented at the top of the academic profession and experience slower career progression than men. To address聽this issue, economists (白小姐论坛) and聽 (University of Warwick), are organizing a workshop 鈥淲omen in Academia鈥� on the 23rd of May 2023 at Friends House, London.

The event will bring together researchers at all career stages to exchange ideas and share research findings that can enhance our understanding of the factors that may hinder women鈥檚 advancement in science and academia.

Speaking ahead of the conference 白小姐论坛 Economist set out why the event is important in helping shift the debate on women in academia.

鈥淭here is increasing evidence showing that gender diversity in research teams and academic environment diversifies research questions studied and also leads to more novel and impactful scientific ideas. So diversity matters not just for diversity鈥檚 sake but also for scientific progress.鈥�

The workshop will feature some of the leading researchers in the fields of the economics of science, economic history, labour economics, and gender economics including Ren茅e Adams, Manuel Bagues, Patrick Gaule,聽Alessandro Iaria,聽Carolyn Stein, and聽Fabian Waldinger.聽
