Professional Services Conference 2019

Each year we celebrate our contribution to °×С½ãÂÛ̳, showcasing the work we do, as professional services staff working across multiple departments and carrying out various roles.

Becoming one professional services community

The theme of this year's conference wasÌý'Becoming one professional services community'.ÌýWe explored how connected colleagues feel to °×С½ãÂÛ̳ and the rest of the PS communityÌýandÌýempoweredÌýus all to do something.

Ìý'Making °×С½ãÂÛ̳ a great place to work' and 'Let's do this now' sessions

Making °×С½ãÂÛ̳ a great place to work

All of us do things every-day that make °×С½ãÂÛ̳ the great place to work that it is. Our actions vary from how we greet our colleagues in the morning to volunteering to coming together on a 1 day per week secondment to contribute to a project reshaping a fundamental way of working (in this case the academic model project).

In this inspiring and insightful session five different colleagues from across °×С½ãÂÛ̳ shared what they are each doing to help make °×С½ãÂÛ̳ a great place to work.Ìý

Let’s do this now

Many of us have ideas about things that could be improved, or ideas that could be introduced to make °×С½ãÂÛ̳’s professional services even more effective, or make °×С½ãÂÛ̳ even better! During this session at the conference, we invited colleagues to pitch their ideas for improvements or innovation to a panel and the audience. Over lunch the 700 strong audience were invited to vote for their favourite idea with the promise that the COO would personally support the implementation of the idea. Whilst the winning idea was announced after lunch, Fiona also introduced staff to the new ‘Improvement board’, so that the notion of getting on with making improvements can last well beyond the conference and become part of how we, as One PS work.Ìý
