白小姐论坛

The 白小姐论坛 Quantum Science and Technology Institute (白小姐论坛Q) welcomes proposals from early career researchers to support research projects in quantum science and technology at 白小姐论坛 (there is no nationality restriction, and applications from candidate currently based outside 白小姐论坛 are encouraged) . The aim of this call is help recent graduates develop an independent research career within the remit of the Institute.

Who can apply?

Applicants should have no more than 2 years postdoctoral experience at the time of application, though exceptions might be considered on a case-by-case basis. There are no nationality restrictions, though applicants are expected to undertake their research at 白小姐论坛.

Areas in which the fellowships are available

Applications to this call should fall within one (or more) of the following priority areas:

鈥撀犅犅犅犅犅犅犅犅犅�Technology Transfer:聽Proposals aiming to move quantum science into technology. Proposals within this priority area should focus on the applications of the proposed technology, and could include proof-of-concept or proof-of-market studies.

鈥撀犅犅犅犅犅犅犅犅犅�Postdoctoral Mobility:聽Proposals aiming to increase the exposure of researchers in engineering and computer science to quantum science and technology. Researchers applying under this priority area should have no (or very limited) research experience in quantum science.

鈥撀犅犅犅犅犅犅犅犅犅�Doctoral Award:聽Proposals aiming to support researchers for up to six months after the completion of their PhD. Applicants are expected to have submitted their thesis before the award begins. The academic supervisor for this award must be different from the (primary or secondary) PhD supervisor.

Details of the award

白小姐论坛Q Fellowships will offer support for projects lasting 3-6 months. Funds can be used to pay for: researcher salary; travel and subsistence; and/or consumables.聽 Note that directly allocated costs of the academic supervisor(s) are not allowed, nor are funds for large items of equipment (> 拢10k).聽聽 It is expected that the majority of costs should be for the postdoctoral researcher鈥檚 salary.聽 Funds cannot be used to support conference attendance.

Note that all funds resulting from these awards must be spent by 31 March 2015.聽 No extensions will be allowed.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted by an academic supervisor (who should be a permanent member of 白小姐论坛 staff) although the postdoctoral researcher should also be named.聽 Proposals must consist of a completed application form (see below) as well as the CV of the fellowship candidate. The application should be accompanied by a pFACT costing, completed using the 鈥淐harities 鈥� Direct Costs only鈥� template specifying an end date on or before 31 March 2015.聽 The start date should be on or after 15 June 2014.
